SOuthern Astrometry Project, phase A1 (SOAP-A1)

Goals of the SOAP-A1 project

Target list includes 204 sources brighter 250 mJy at declinations <-45°. Each source is observed in 8 to 10 scans of 2–5 minutes long.

The primary goas of SOAP-A1 observing sessions are:

improve source position to 0.3 mas level.

image sources at X and S band.

Preliminary results of the SOAP-E1 project

The list of observed source

2018.02.28 SOAP-A5 (AUA038) is observed.
2018.02.23 SOAP-A1 (aua028) experiment has been processed. There were 20 sources that were observed in 7 to 10 scans. Of them, 6 had position error worse 0.3 mas. Here are there results of the global X/S solution:

(other strong sources were observed for imaging).
There are 3942 X-band group delays used in GX solution out of 4171 correlated (94%), and 2633 X/S cobinations out of 2923 (90%) in G_GXS solution. The wrms of postfit residuals is 47 ps.
Phase delays were resolved at both band at Hh/Ht and at X-band Wa/Ww. Phase delay solution has wrms 4.8 and 3.3 ps resepectively. Plot of postifit residuals is here.
Failures:
- DSS34: No signal in IFs 5,6 (S-band) and IFs 12–16.
- DSS34: Phase cal had a jump, but fringe phases did not. Phase cal is turned off.
- HOBART26: Very weak fringe amplitudes in IFs 5,6 (S-band) IFs 5,6 are discarded
- YARRA12M: Phase cal is unstable and degraded soluton. Phase cal is turned off.
- WARK30M: Fringe amplitudes in IFs 12–16 is around 3% of fringe ampltidues IFs 7–11. I suspect wrong polarization feeds IFs 12–16. IFs 12–16 are discarded.

2018.01.26 SOAP-A4 (AUA036) is observed.
2017.12.20 SOAP-A3 (AUA034) is observed.
2017.11.24 SOAP-A2 (AUA032) is observed.
2017.10.03 SOAP-A1 (AUA028) is observed.
